My favorite thing about painting is being surprised about what seems to magically come out of the paintbrush.  I love bright colors, strong shapes and a variety of textures.  Sometimes I dream about pictures and then immediately paint them.  Other times, I begin with a swatch of color or a simple shape and watch it grow into something over time.  I have a variety of design styles and I love the freedom abstract painting allows.  I also enjoy finding the right title for each painting -- I consider it the finishing touch!
The biggest struggle I have is letting go.  Each painting is like a child, some needing much love and attention, others growing to fruition with only a nudge from the paintbrush.  In the end, some have my heart and I can't let go.  Many speak to others as they have spoken to me and those are willingly shared..
